Position Overview – Remote Math Instructor / Tutor

We are seeking enthusiastic, mathematically‑savvy educators to join our Madison team as Remote Math Instructors/Tutors. In this role, you will deliver one‑on‑one or small‑group tutoring sessions using the Mathnasium Method, either through our state‑of‑the‑art virtual classroom or, when needed, in‑center at our Madison locations. While the position is primarily remote, applicants must reside within the Madison, WI area to attend mandatory in‑person training (or possess prior online tutoring experience with Mathnasium).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, student‑centered instruction that aligns with the Mathnasium curriculum for grades 1‑12.
  • Utilize evidence‑based teaching practices to assess each learner’s strengths, gaps, and learning style.
  • Provide real‑time feedback, progress reports, and tailored learning plans to students and their parents.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and professional virtual learning environment.
  • Collaborate with fellow tutors, center directors, and curriculum specialists to share best practices and continuously improve instructional delivery.
  • Complete required pre‑session preparation, including reviewing lesson plans, digital materials, and student data.
  • Participate in two to four weeks of intensive, in‑person training at our Madison Learning Centers (or complete a verified online onboarding program if you have prior Mathnasium online tutoring experience).
  • Stay current with emerging educational technologies and integrate them effectively into tutoring sessions.
  • Adhere to Mathnasium’s confidentiality policies, safeguarding student information and learning records.

Essential Qualifications

  • Residency: Must live in the Madison, WI metropolitan area.
  • Academic Background: Demonstrated competency in mathematics through at least Algebra I; a degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Teaching Experience: Prior tutoring, teaching, or mentoring experience with K‑12 students is highly desirable.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal abilities, capable of building rapport with students, parents, and team members.
  • Technology Proficiency: Comfortable navigating virtual classroom platforms, digital whiteboards, and learning management systems.
  • Reliability: Ability to manage a consistent schedule of evening and weekend sessions, balancing multiple responsibilities effectively.

Schedule & Commitment

The role offers flexible, part‑time hours designed to complement the schedules of students after school and on weekends. Typical availability includes:

  • Monday – Thursday: 3:30 pm – 8:00 pm CST
  • Sunday: 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm CST
  • Summer Break (starting 6/12) – Additional morning and early‑afternoon slots (e.g., 9:30 am – noon, 3:00 pm – 6:30 pm CST)
  • Optional Friday sessions: 9:30 am – 1:00 pm CST

Hours are subject to change based on student demand and center needs, but we maintain transparent scheduling and advance notice for any adjustments.
