Position Overview

The General Merchandise Coach (Complex) role is a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead and develop teams effectively, drive financial performance and sales, and provide exceptional customer service standards. As a coach, you will be responsible for teaching, training, and actively listening to associates, touring stores, and providing feedback. You will communicate and collaborate with all levels of associates regarding store operations, utilize technology, business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction. Your ability to introduce and lead company change efforts, provide clear expectations and guidance, and communicate business objectives to teams effectively will be essential to your success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop teams effectively by teaching, training, and actively listening to associates
  • Tour stores and provide feedback (Tour-to-Teach) to ensure exceptional customer service standards
  • Communicate and collaborate with all levels of associates regarding store operations, technology, business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction
  • Introduce and lead company change efforts, provide clear expectations and guidance, and communicate business objectives to teams effectively
  • Drive financial performance and sales of the designated store area by reviewing and evaluating P&L statements, managing and assisting in budgeting, forecasting, and controlling expenses
  • Ensure customer needs, complaints, and issues are successfully resolved, and develop and implement action plans to correct deficiencies
  • Provide supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates, including hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, setting clear expectations, and providing associate recognition
  • Coordinate, complete, and oversee job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, supporting plans and initiatives, and identifying and communicating goals and objectives

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications:

  • 2 years of college; OR 1 year of retail experience and 1 year of supervisory experience; OR 2 years of general work experience and 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Ability to lead and develop teams effectively, drive financial performance and sales, and provide exceptional customer service standards
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following preferred qualifications will make you a more competitive candidate:

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University
  • Certificate of Completion in People and Business Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University
  • General work experience supervising 5 or more direct reports, including responsibility for performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing
