Job Overview

We're actively seeking a part-time Remote Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students to provide specialized instruction and support to our students with hearing impairments. Key Responsibilities

As a Remote Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students, you'll be responsible for:
  • Providing specialized instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of students with hearing impairments, including developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Collaborating with fellow educators, parents, and support staff to ensure a holistic approach to student development, including regular communication and consultation to address student needs and progress.
  • Offering consultation services for approximately 30 minutes each month, providing guidance and support to parents, educators, and other stakeholders on matters related to teaching students with hearing impairments.
  • Participating in necessary updated testing and assessments, focusing predominantly on consultation and ensuring that students receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Commencing work as soon as possible, with an engagement period extending until May 23, 2025, and being available to work flexible hours to accommodate the needs of our students and families.

Required Skills

To succeed in this role, you'll need to possess:
  • Exceptional communication capabilities to facilitate effective interactions with students, families, and colleagues, including the ability to communicate in American Sign Language (ASL) or other sign languages.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work cohesively with other educators and support personnel, including the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
  • Specialized knowledge in teaching methodologies for students with hearing impairments, including knowledge of assistive technology and communication strategies.
  • Organizational proficiency to effectively manage consultation and testing activities, including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you'll need to possess:
  • A Master's or Doctorate degree in Education, specifically for Teaching Deaf Students, from an accredited institution.
  • A valid Nevada DHH Teaching License and Certification, or the ability to obtain one prior to commencement of employment.
  • Demonstrated experience with students who have hearing impairments or other disabilities, including experience working with students who use assistive technology and communication strategies.
  • Reliable transportation to fulfill job requirements, including the ability to travel to meetings and consultations as needed.
  • The ability to successfully complete a drug test and background screening, as required by our organization.
