[Remote] Network Designer (Senior or Lead)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Network Designer (Senior or Lead) to join the team in Seattle, WA. This role focuses on the creation and maintenance of network infrastructure in various locations and requires collaboration with IT Business Partners to implement and maintain communications and network systems.
Responsibilities
• Leads and performs the identification, analysis, and documentation of requirements for network LAN technologies and services (e.g., wireless, data, voice, video, cable, wire) based on customer goals, objectives, cost and security constraints, to lead the design process
• Works collaboratively with other stakeholders (Transport, Transport, Metropolitan Area Network (MAN)/Wide Area Network (WAN), Structured Cabling, Project Manager, etc.) in focused, agile-inspired sprint teams
• Creates and documents designs that conform to architectural and security standards to meet customer requirements, using design templates and standard implementation packages
• Prepares, deploys, and coordinates installation of complex implementation packages per Boeing standards
• Provides Incident/Problem Management support in preventative, proactive and reactive maintenance to meet service restoration and network availability objectives, using network analysis and monitoring tools
• Supports and participates in component research to provide input for more comprehensive evaluation
• Leads and performs implementation planning for tactical multi-technology insertion projects, using established project management methodologies for the purpose of controlling costs and ensuring adherence to project plan
• Exercises critical thinking and innovative problem solving
Skills
• 5+ years of experience with Design, Implementation and Troubleshooting of Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN)
• 5+ years of experience with Cisco wireless technologies
• 5+ years of experience with Cisco routers and switches & Cisco IOS implementations
• 5+ years of experience utilizing Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) network protocols
• 5+ years of experience in developing presentations, integrating technical & non-technical content
• 5+ years of experience with written and verbal communication and presentations
• Ability to support after-hours deployments and rotational on-call
• 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work or military experience
• CCNA, CCNP or other Cisco Certification
• Experience with any of the following: Ansible (Python/Jinga2), Python scripting, Regular Expression, Serial Data Structures (YAML/JASON), or Splunk/Analytics
• Experience with Palo Alto next generation firewall systems
• Experience with leadership and communication skills, decisive problem solving with the ability to interpret technical data and innovative solutions
• Ability to support after-hours change windows and implementations
• Willing to cover on-call shifts, including weekends and after hours
