As a Senior Engineer, you serve as a specialist in the engineering team that supports the product. You help develop and gain insight in the application architecture. You can distill an abstract architecture into concrete design and influence the implementation. You show expertise in applying the appropriate software engineering patterns to build robust and scalable systems. You are an expert in programming and apply your skills in developing the product. You have the skills to design and implement the architecture on your own but choose to influence your fellow engineers by proposing software designs, providing feedback on software designs and/or implementation. You show good problem-solving skills and can help the team in triaging operational issues. You leverage your expertise in eliminating repeat occurrences. About this Role: As an iOS Engineer on the Same Day Delivery team, you’ll help shape the mobile experience that connects our guests to real-time fulfillment capabilities. You’ll build and enhance scalable, high-performance iOS features that power Target’s Same Day Delivery experience, working closely with senior engineers, designers, and product partners to deliver a seamless and delightful guest journey. You’ll contribute to the development of high-quality code, learn best practices for architecture and performance, and gain hands-on experience with modern iOS frameworks and tools. You’ll participate in design and code reviews, collaborate on technical decisions, and continuously grow your skills as part of a supportive and innovative engineering team. What you will do: • Build guest-facing features in Swift, leveraging modern Apple frameworks like UIKit and SwiftUI to create rich, responsive experiences. • Contribute to features built on The Composable Architecture (TCA) and other in-house patterns designed for scalability and maintainability. • Write clean, well-tested native iOS code that supports business objectives and delivers delightful guest experiences. • Learn and apply best practices in code structure, architecture, and testing to improve maintainability and reliability. • Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to understand requirements and deliver high-quality features. • Participate in code reviews, share feedback, and continuously grow your technical and problem-solving skills. • Take ownership of small-to-medium features while contributing to larger projects alongside senior engineers. About you: • 4 year degree or equivalent experience • 1+ years of professional software development experience, including iOS app development using Swift. • Familiarity with SwiftUI, UIKit, and Apple’s development tools (Xcode, Instruments, etc.). • Understanding of common iOS design patterns such as MVC or MVVM, with an interest in learning more advanced architectures like TCA. • Passion for writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code, with a focus on user experience and quality. • Eager to learn modern engineering practices, including testing, CI/CD, and code review processes. • Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to contribute effectively within a cross-functional team. • Curious, proactive, and motivated to grow as an iOS engineer while contributing to real-world guest impact. • Stays current with evolving technologies and enjoys continuous learning and experimentation. This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
