JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Mont Alto invites applications for a full-time Director of Occupational Therapy Assistant Program, Assistant Teaching Professor of Occupational Therapy; Term, multi-year, 42-week contract beginning January 24, 2024, or as negotiated.

Responsibilities:

Director of The Occupational Therapy Assistant Program (OTA), Assistant Teaching Professor will hold a faculty appointment that has administrative, academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of The Pennsylvania State University.

This successful candidate will demonstrate competence in administration, teaching, curriculum & course development, as well as proficiency in delivering and maintaining accreditation requirements set forth by The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).

The faculty will teach assigned courses within the program using traditional, hybrid, and online methods during the weekday as scheduled.

The faculty will participate in administration, teaching, student advising, career guidance, National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) OTA exam preparation, and licensure processes.

The faculty will participate in campus, college, university, professional, and community service activities.

The faculty will participate in professional development activities to stay current in the disciplines and teaching in the higher education environment.

Qualifications:

A minimum of two (2) years of full-time academic appointment in higher education, which includes significant teaching, learning, advising, management, understanding of, and experience with occupational therapy assistants is required.

Hold Post-Professional OTD for a minimum of two (2) years from a regionally accredited body recognized by the USDE.

Other related doctorates will be considered.

Minimum of five (5) years of full-time equivalent practice as an occupational therapy practitioner, community-based practice in pediatric and/or mental health.

Preferred experience with ACOTE accreditation processes.

Applicant must be currently certified by NBCOT, licensed to practice as an occupational therapy practitioner in Pennsylvania, and a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association.

Demonstrated competency with Microsoft Office 365 Application Suite, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills are a must.

The applicant should have knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical and community-based education, the contemporary needs of students, and the profession of occupational therapy.

Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic interprofessional environment and on-campus involvement is essential.
