As our Major Gifts Officer, you will serve as a frontline fundraiser, working to engage alumni, parents, and friends to support Rose-Hulman's philanthropic needs. While actively managing a portfolio of prospects, you will initiate and strengthen relationships with alumni, parents, and friends of the Institute through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. You will meet with other resources to develop and execute donor-specific strategies as well as track and report on the activities and execution of the strategies with individual prospects. You will also meet regularly with deans, faculty, and administrators to gain understanding of major priorities and goals and supply timely information on donor cultivation. You will serve as a liaison to a specific department as well as meet with that Departmental Chair to gain knowledge of that area's goals and vision. Our Major Gift Officers actively work to be knowledgeable on the Institute's needs, priorities, administrative vision, and the general daily activities of the campus.

Qualified candidates will hold a bachelor's degree in business, communications, public relations or a related field required. Qualified candidates will also have 4 to 5 years of professional experience that includes 2 to 3 years of experience in fundraising or transferable skills required. Strong analytical and project/process management skills and proficiency with database, spreadsheet, word processing and Internet software are necessary. Knowledge of market research techniques and an ability to develop, analyze, and evaluate detailed fundraising programs are preferred. A proven track record of securing gifts at the major gift level is essential. Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to make presentations and respond to questions are required. Effective listening skills and the ability to interact/network with alumni, friends of the Institute, major gift prospects, and major donors are essential. The ability to write reports and grant proposals is necessary. Some travel is required. In addition to the required qualifications, preferred candidates will have experience in a higher education environment. The ability to read and interpret documents (i.e., technical journals, legal documents, governmental regulations) is highly desired.

At Rose-Hulman, your successes are celebrated in a welcoming, supportive, and flexible environment with a number of benefits and resources including a variety of health benefit options; parental leave; voluntary benefits such as Group Accident and/or Group Critical Illness Insurance, Pet Insurance, and Caregiver Resources; participation in Tuition Exchange; a generous and flexible paid leave program and dedicated time for professional development. As a Rose-Hulman employee, you will also enjoy access to full-service fitness facilities and programming; a performing arts center featuring national touring acts and campus productions; and access to state-of-the-art labs, facilities, and equipment. All employees experience opportunities to have an impact on student lives and be part of a greater purpose through multidisciplinary project collaboration that can have a global impact as well as receiving continual encouragement and support of philanthropic and volunteer opportunities.
