Medical Billing Account Representative Insurance Collector

Experienced Medical Collector needed for growing billing company.
Office-based medical insurance collections experience required; dermatology and pathology collections experience preferred.
Ideal candidate will be a self-motivated go getter, with experience working commercial, government, and other carrier claims, and a great team attitude. Medicaid and Anthem BCBS collections experience is desired.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Performing insurance collections activities to obtain correct and complete reimbursement for each claim, including, but not limited to, online claims follow-up, contacting payers and / or patients by phone, appealing claim denials, resubmitting claims with corrected information, and identifying and correcting authorization errors
• Review coding submitted by client for correctness when claims denied.
• Processes and applies denials from insurance companies and patient to correct account and date of service as needed.
• Coordinates reimbursement between responsible parties.
• Reviews accounts to ensure correct and complete reimbursement has been received for each claim.
• Answers phone questions from patients, clients, insurance companies and other sources.
• Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints.
• Participates in educational activities as requested.
• Attends staff meetings as scheduled.
• Maintains strictest confidentiality; follows HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job requirements:
• High School diploma or GED
• Knowledge of medical billing and collections practices
• Knowledge of and willingness to learn various computer practice management systems, clearinghouses, and payer websites, as well as other online resources.
