Sr. Software Engineer- Basic Software Tools
Posted 2025-04-21Description Workplace Status: Hybrid - This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the candidate is expected to report to the Warren Tech Center three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business. The Role We are looking for a senior software developer with a strong passion for developing the software tools and the engineering process to enable a global software organization. The job will require to develop in house tooling to generate GM defined basic infrastructure software for controller builds based on SVD (Software Defined Vehicles) architecture. The main responsibility will include development, integration and testing of the tool generated basic software on a comm stack for end-to-end readiness, and product line software release for a controller . Responsibilities: ? Software developer and integrator of tooling to generate to basic infrastructure software for GM product line software tools (C and Java). ? Working in agile team with Continuous Integration/Continuous Integration methodology ? Gathering and understanding the requirements to generate tooling adhering to serial data communication protocol based on AutoSAR Standards. ? Test , Debug and validate generated artifacts on the standard platforms. ? Adapting to the already existed code framework and build new capabilities to extend functionality and enhance performance. ? Active participation as an SME to identity, design, and implement workflow modifications with multiple business teams and application extensions. ? Whiteboard and brainstorming session with internal tools team members
Requirements: ? Bachelor's degree in engineering (Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred) ? 5+ years of experience in Automotive embedded software development. ? knowledge of the AutoSAR Standards and serial data communication protocols ? Demonstrated proficiency with programming language: Java and C ? High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others. ? Good business sense, ability to communicate, and a desire to understand customer needs. ? Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-change environment with an initiative demonstrated by reaching beyond assigned work to improve output.
Preferred Requirements: ? Master's degree in engineering or computer Science ? 2+ years of experience in a related field ? Understanding of Automotive Embedded Systems ? Working experience with COMM Stack . ? Experience with Agile Product Development. ? Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems.
