Pension and Endowments Department

The Pension Department (PEN) is responsible for the management of the post-retirement benefit Plans of the World Bank Group (WBG). PEN fulfills its fiduciary mandate under a strong governance framework established by the WBG, under the oversight of the Pension Finance Committee, chaired by the MDCFO. PEN is part of the Treasury Vice-Presidency. Its activities regroup the key functions that pertain to the management of the Pension Plans and are organized in three teams: Pension Investments (PENIN); Pension Middle Office (PENMO); and Pension Administration (PENAD). PEN is a department with around 95 professional staff who are experts in key aspects of managing a pension Plan. PEN manages over $40 billion in assets as of end 2024 and serves around 17,000 Plan participants and beneficiaries. The PENDP team, directly under the PENDP Director's supervision, is comprised of PEN's Chief Actuary, of the PEN Risk Management team and of the PEN Director's Office front office, comprised of a Financial Analyst position, and an executive-assistant-level position.

Duties and Accountabilities:

Under the guidance and supervision of a Team Lead, the selected candidate will be responsible for specific individual tasks/projects and for working as an integral part of the team in executing PENDP risk function's work program. The selected candidate will work on the operational risk aspect of the work program. His or her primary responsibilities will include, but not limited to, some combination of the following activities:
? Conduct thorough assessments of operational risks across various business functions in PEN, identifying potential vulnerabilities and areas for improvement.
? Develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies and controls, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
? Monitor and maintain compliance with relevant risk management frameworks and industry standards related to operational risk management.
? Prepare regular reports on operational risk KPIs, key findings, and mitigation efforts to management.
? Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational risk management effectiveness.
? Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on operational risk management principles and procedures.
? Support operational risk management aspects of new projects and initiatives, ensuring risks are identified and mitigated early.

Selection Criteria
? Master's degree with 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education in operational risk management or risk assessment in finance industry. Professional qualification such as FRM, CRISC would be a strong plus.
? The qualified candidate should have a sound understanding of operational risk management principles and best practices.
? Advanced experience with Power BI, Power Automate, Power Queries, proficiency in Excel macros and/ or a programing expert who works in a transparent way, and with the ability to train department users.
? Good knowledge of the Bank's operational risk system, policy and procedures and able to drive for results, document processes and policies.
? Proven ability to multitask, deliver results and respond quickly and effectively to requests. Ability to work under pressure and attention to detail.
? Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to communicate and discuss complex topics in simple terms, both verbally and in writing.
? Having the highest ethical standards.
