Supervises:

Primary Purpose: To assist the teacher in carrying out the prescribed program for each student.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification: ? Ability to meet the No Child Left Behind requirements: Associate's Degree, 48 Semester hours, or Academic Assessment (PAT). ? High School Diploma or GED.

Special Knowledge Skills:
? Fluency in English and Spanish.
? Proficiency in computer technology.
? Ability to communicate and work with parents.
? Successful experience in working with students is preferred.

Experience:

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
? Assist the classroom teacher with the instruction of students in both languages; individual and small group instruction is recommended.
? Assist the teacher in the planning and preparation of instructional activities and materials.
? Work cooperatively with other school personnel in the program in developing, implementing, and assessing the program.
? Attend in-service sessions as deemed necessary.
? Assist the classroom teacher with the preparations necessary for administration of assessments; the initial administration, scoring, and documenting of test results are the teacher?s responsibility; the aide may assist with end-of-year testing.
? Assist in room and material maintenance; perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or school principal.
