Welder - Utility Maintenance
Posted 2025-04-21Sets up, adjusts and uses equipment by adjusting gas flow, wire feed rate and heat settings per standard practices. Replaces nozzles, contact tips, weld wire spools, rod, gas bottles and gauges as required. Loads and unloads parts and equipment manually and with mechanical assistance. Performs maintenance of the equipment. Routine counting and paperwork is required. Operates equipment such as saws, grinders, drills and various maintenance hand tools. Cleans work area, parts and equipment. Cuts metals and makes repair welds as required on cast iron, steel, brass, bronze and aluminum sheet, tubing and pipe. Works from drawings, sketches, process sheets, work orders and verbal instructions. May operate crane truck, portable pumps, light plants, forklifts and generators. Hours: Mon. ? Fri. 7:30am ? 4:00pm, on call position.
Welding skills test required. Training in welding and/or one year experience as a welder or any equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a safety sensitive position. The successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment drug test as well as being subject to random, drug/alcohol testing. This is an On-Call position. Good knowledge of the methods and techniques of welding, brazing and soldering. Good knowledge of acetylene torch, electric welding equipment and related welding equipment, tools and materials. Skill in the use of hand and power tools and welding equipment. Ability to perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time. Ability to withstand the impact of smoke, heat and fumes. Ability to lift 50 lbs continuously. Ability to withstand constant vibrations from equipment. Ability to climb in and out of trenches. Ability to maneuver in uneven and rough terrain. Ability to obtain A/CDL within one year of placement. Must have a valid driver?s license with a good driving record.
