About the position

The Logistics Officer position is located within the Movement Control Section of the Logistics Division at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This role is crucial for providing logistics support for peacekeeping and other field missions, ensuring effective supply chain management, transportation, and maintenance services. The officer will be responsible for developing logistics plans, managing operations, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of services.

Responsibilities
? Prepare logistics and support plans, deployment timelines, and budget requirements for planned or new peacekeeping missions.

? Develop logistical plans for existing missions and contingency plans for drawdown and liquidation of missions.
,
? Manage logistics operations including management of logistics assets, materiel, contracts, and personnel.
,
? Ensure timely, accountable, and cost-effective delivery of peacekeeping cargoes and personnel.
,
? Coordinate logistics support to ongoing air, land, sea, or rail operations in a field mission.
,
? Develop and implement methodologies and tools for effective execution of logistic plans.
,
? Formulate mission-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
,
? Prepare reports on materiel movements and other operational logistics issues.
,
? Coordinate logistics operations with other UN agencies, military, and other organizations in the field.

? Develop dashboards for Business Intelligence (BI) and ensure integration and automation of data flow.

Requirements
? Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in business administration, public administration, supply chain management, logistics, or other relevant field.

? Certification in Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR-P) or equivalent is required.
,
? A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in logistics operations, supply chain management or related area is required.

? Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/Systems Applications and Products (SAP) is desirable.

? Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.

Nice-to-haves
? Certification in business intelligence tools (Web intelligence, MS Power BI, Analytics workspace or equivalent) is desirable.
,
? Experience working in a United Nations common system field presence or similar international organization is desirable.
,
? Experience in developing analytical tools and data pipelines, data modeling, and visualization applications is desirable.
