About the position

Savage is seeking a dedicated Rail Switchman to join our team, recognized by USA Today as a Top Workplace and honored as a Military Friendly Employer. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with the spotting of cars on the correct track, moving empty cars, and building the outbound train. You will also classify inbound trains and interact with class one railroads, ensuring smooth operations within our facility. Daily tasks will include spotting and pulling with Ironhorse, visually inspecting rail cars, and performing air brake inspections. As a Rail Switchman, you will have the opportunity to cross-train and assist in various functions performed at the facility. We provide training and certification for operating a locomotive, allowing you to expand your skill set. Safety is a top priority at Savage, and you will participate in and promote our safety program, SHAPS, to ensure a secure working environment for all employees. This position requires a commitment to working rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends, and the ability to travel to other sites for switching and training requirements. You will be expected to wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a clear drug and alcohol test, as well as pass a criminal background check. Responsibilities
? Assist with spotting cars on the correct track

Requirements
? 3-5 years of switching experience
,
? High school diploma or equivalent
,
? Ability to perform basic maintenance
,
? Active Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC card)
,
? Ability to attend and pass all training associated with job-related coursework (OSHA, HazMat, FRA related courses)
,
? Ability to travel to other sites for switching and training
,
? Willingness to wear required PPE
,
? Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends
,
? Work experience in an industrial environment
,
? Must be able to read, write, and understand English instructions
,
? Clear drug/alcohol test and criminal background check
