The Museum and Visitor Center Coordinator position at the City of Brownwood is a full-time role that requires a commitment of 40 hours per week. This position is essential for managing the operations of the Lehnis Train Museum and Visitor Center, ensuring that both weekday and weekend activities run smoothly. In this role, the coordinator will oversee the gift shop operations, which includes tasks such as ordering stock, managing inventory, processing transactions, and selling museum admissions. The coordinator will also be responsible for making budget recommendations based on gift shop purchases for both the museum and the visitor center. Customer service is a key component of this position, as the coordinator will answer phone calls, assist walk-in customers, and provide information about the museum and the City of Brownwood. Additionally, the coordinator will manage the museum's social media presence by updating the Lehnis Railroad Museum & Visitor Center's Facebook and Instagram pages in collaboration with the City of Brownwood's Communications Department. The coordinator will also handle various clerical duties, including composing correspondence related to contracts and billing, coordinating facility rentals, and scheduling staff for events. The role requires the ability to interact professionally with the public and to work with local hotels and businesses to promote events in Brownwood and the surrounding area. The coordinator will assist the Visitor Services Manager with tourism-related tasks, including the distribution of marketing materials and updates to the museum's website and social media channels. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the Visitor Services Manager and museum staff during events and programs.
Responsibilities
? Manage the gift shop operation including ordering stock, inventory, processing transactions, and selling museum admissions.

? Answer telephone calls and assist walk-in customers in planning their visit.

? Take messages and provide information about the Museum and City of Brownwood.

? Update Lehnis Railroad Museum & Visitor Center Facebook and Instagram pages in coordination with the City of Brownwood's Communications Department.

? Compose and type correspondence for customers regarding contracts, billing, and museum & visitor center activities.

? Coordinate facility rentals including tours with prospects, contracting, diagrams, and payments.

? Schedule staff to set up and work events.

? Perform miscellaneous clerical duties such as deposits, petty cash, store inventory, ordering office supplies, and P.O. requisitions.

? Open and close exhibits as needed and provide support during Family Day events, fundraisers, and programs.

? Interact tactfully and professionally with the public and customers.

? Work with local hotels and businesses to promote current events in Brownwood and surrounding areas.

? Assist the Visitor Services Manager with tourism-related tasks such as Visitor Center operations and distribution of marketing materials.
Requirements
? Must have enough education to read and write effectively for this position.

? A high school diploma or G.E.D. is a plus, but not required.
