About the position

The Informatics Supervisor (IS) serves as the principal driver for implementing strategic health informatics objectives across multiple internal divisions and departments. This role is crucial in applying informatics theory and practice to design and implement digital health programs and technologies into daily public health operations. The IS will orchestrate complex public health data projects that facilitate and promote efficiency and effectiveness for end users, with the primary goal of advancing evidence-based practice. This position is grant funded, and the posting may close at any time. In this role, the Informatics Supervisor will lead the implementation of informatics solutions within Public Health under the supervision of the Informatics Manager. The IS will design, coordinate, and manage special programmatic and service-related data systems and processes. A high level of knowledge of current public health, population health, and clinical informatics applications, trends, and changes in various healthcare information technologies is essential to direct health informatics activities effectively. The IS will develop guidance tools, reports, and best practices for public health professionals related to the utilization of informatics in the public health environment. Coordination with Information Technology is necessary to develop requirements and specifications for critical healthcare and public health electronic data interfaces, databases, and supporting processes. The role also involves conducting staff meetings, disseminating data, and promoting information exchange while ensuring compliance with personnel rules, regulations, and policies. The IS will maintain knowledge of surveillance concepts and theories, including epidemiology, statistics, and public health practice, to design and implement digital health programs and technologies into daily public health operations. Informal coaching, mentoring, and guidance relating to Health Informatics matters will also be provided as appropriate. The IS will frame implementation strategies to be operationally effective to achieve maximum performance of public health systems and perform all other related duties involved in the operation of Public Health as assigned or required.

Responsibilities
? Leads the implementation of informatics solutions within Public Health under the supervision of the Informatics Manager.

? Designs, coordinates, and manages special programmatic and service-related data systems and processes.

? Maintains high level of knowledge of current public health and population health and clinical informatics applications, trends, and changes in various healthcare information technologies to direct health informatics activities.

? Develops guidance tools, reports, and best practices for public health professionals related to utilization of informatics in the public health environment.

? Coordinates with Information Technology to develop requirements and specifications for critical healthcare and public health electronic data interfaces, databases, and supporting processes.

? Ensures staff complies with personnel rules, regulations, and policies.

? Maintains knowledge of surveillance concepts and theories including epidemiology, statistics, and public health practice in order to design and implement digital health programs and technologies into daily public health operations.

? Provides informal coaching, mentoring, and guidance relating to Health Informatics matters as appropriate.

? Frames implementation strategies to be operationally effective in order to achieve maximum performance of public health systems.

? Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of Public Health as assigned or required.

Requirements
? Bachelor's degree or higher in Health Informatics or a related field; Master's Degree highly preferred.

? Three (3) full-time years of work experience consisting of leadership and health informatics roles as well as experience with electronic medical record systems.
,
? Working knowledge of database applications, spreadsheets, computing systems, and data analysis programs required.
,
? Experience in a health-related field with knowledge of disease investigation protocols, reporting procedures, and data analysis required.
,
? Knowledge of HIPAA and Meaningful Use requirements is required.
,
? Knowledge of data processing software and computer programming methods such as SAS, SPSS, and R Project for Statistics is required.
,
? Experience with PENTAHO, IBM/COGNOS, SQL Reporting Services (SRSS), and other report and business intelligence applications is preferred.

? Knowledge in electronic health record technology and data is preferred.
