The Benefits Assistant position at the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) involves providing support in the administration of employee benefits, including retirement, disability, and related benefits for UN staff and beneficiaries. The role requires effective communication with participants and administrative staff, ensuring accurate information is provided regarding entitlements and benefits. The position is integral to maintaining pension files, calculating benefits, and assisting with data analysis and reporting.
Responsibilities
? Screens and sorts all incoming communications and forwards to appropriate team/individual.

? Provides information to individual participants and retirees/beneficiaries regarding participation, entitlements, and benefits.

? Drafts routine correspondence and responds to telephone inquiries related to pension inquiries.
,
? Undertakes necessary research to provide accurate information in accordance with Pension Fund rules and regulations.
,
? Assists in determining eligibility and enrolling new entrants.
,
? Monitors and records all changes of status, such as family history and employment situations.
,
? Originates and updates pension files from enrollment to separation, ensuring all relevant documentation is received.
,
? Initiates administrative actions required by changes in individual status or pension plan.
,
? Calculates estimates of future benefit options and estimates under the Pension Adjustment System.

? Calculates withdrawal/residual settlements and all types of periodic pension benefits.
,
? Reviews documentation for proof of residence and changes in country of residence to determine eligibility.
,
? Reviews Certificate of Entitlement signatures to ensure continued eligibility for pension benefits.

? Participates in standardizing procedures and texts for communications originated by the Section.
,
? Participates in training activities related to the Section's work, including preparation of drafts and training material.

? Assists with the collection and analysis of data and preparation of data presentations and reports.

? Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.

? Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
? High school diploma or equivalent.
,
? A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in employee benefit administration, finance, or human resources, or related area is required.

? Experience in analyzing and presenting data using MS Excel and MS Office is desirable.
,
? Experience within a post-employment benefit scheme is desirable.
,
? Experience with international organizations is desirable.
,
? One year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Nice-to-haves
? Knowledge of various employee benefit schemes related to health, life insurance, and pension.

? Knowledge of accounting processes and procedures applicable to the administration of employee benefit schemes.
