Campus Police Chief
Posted 2025-04-22Under minimal supervision, directs the planning, development, scheduling and implementation of police, security and safety programs for Coastal Pines Technical College. Develops and presents in-service training and other educational programs. Advises as to what law enforcement measures are appropriate when an incident is a violation of the law. Participates as a member of the management team. Performs administrative duties. Coordinates operational plans and developments with local and other law enforcement agencies. Maintains P.O.S.T. certification. Supervises subordinate employees and responsible for the organization, direction, supervision and day-to-day operation of the department.
Responsibilities
? Responsible for the overall management of the security and public safety program on multiple campuses and at off-campus sites in support of the education, research, public service and residential activities of students, faculty, staff and members of the general public.
? Presents in-service training and other educational programs.
? Participates as a member of the President?s Cabinet.
? Coordinates operational plans and developments with local and other law enforcement agencies.
? Maintains program for fire prevention and fire prevention equipment.
? Participates in annual planning and budget process, and monitors department budget.
? Serves as primary investigator of on-campus incidents reports to the campus police.
? Communicates with local police, fire and traffic departments regarding matters of concern to the college community (traffic, reports, crime, safety, etc.).
? Maintains copies of files of hazardous materials on campus.
? Serves on campus committees when requested; attends civic and government meetings when applicable.
? Maintains Peace Officers Standards Training (P.O.S.T.) certification.
? Interviews division job applicants and submits hiring recommendations to the President.
? Directs, trains, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines employees.
? Develops procedures based on those recommended by the Technical College System of Georgia.
? Manages the College?s parking program.
? Works to improve and adjust operations based on legal, financial and/ or policy challenges.
? Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in field by attending professional development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences and by reading professional literature in the related technical field.
? Develops and maintains the necessary documentation to comply with Clery Act reporting requirements.
? Participates in required staff development activities.
? Performs other duties as assigned by the President.
Minimum Qualifications
? P.O.S.T. certification required.
? Associate degree in a directly related field and five years law enforcement related experience, or seven
years? experience in law enforcement, three of which include management or supervisory experience.
