  • *Position Summary**
  • The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) for the New York City District Council of Carpenters is recruiting 25 Carpenter Apprentices. This apprenticeship program offers hands-on training and education to individuals interested in pursuing a career in carpentry. Apprentices will learn the skills necessary to work in various construction environments, including residential, commercial, and industrial projects.? *Recruitment Details**
  • **Recruitment Period**: March 12, 2025 ? February 11, 2026.
  • **Information Sessions**: Held on the second Wednesday of each month (excluding December and January) from 9:00 AM ? 10:00 AM at the NYCDCC Training Center, 395 Hudson Street, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10014.
  • **Application Process**: Attend an in-person information session to receive a passcode for online application access. Applications must be submitted within 60 days of attending the session.
  • ? *Key Responsibilities**
  • Perform carpentry tasks such as framing, installing structures, and finishing work.
  • Work on scaffolds, in confined spaces, and at heights.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Follow blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions to complete projects.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Attend required training sessions and classes as part of the apprenticeship program.
  • ? *Minimum Qualifications**
  • Must be at least 17 years old at the time of application.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (TASC or GED). Proof required after selection.
  • Must be physically able to perform the work of a carpenter, including:
  • Working in inclement weather conditions.
  • Lifting items weighing at least 50 pounds.
  • Standing and stooping for prolonged periods.
  • Climbing and working from heights.
  • Must pass a substance abuse screening prior to enrollment.
  • Must be able to read, hear, and understand verbal instructions and warnings in English.
  • Must have reliable transportation to job sites and training classes.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the United States.
  • ? *Preferred Qualifications**
  • Trade-related experience, certifications, or education (proof required after selection).
  • Military experience (DD-214 required if applicable).
