The Florida Chamber of Commerce is seeking a highly skilled and creative Director of PR & Media Relations to join our team. The Director of PR & Media Relations will be responsible for leading and executing strategic public relations and media initiatives. This role involves establishing and maintaining relationships with media outlets, coordinating press activities, and effectively communicating the Chamber's mission, programs, and initiatives to the public, written and verbally. This position will work closely with the Vice President of Marketing & Communications and various internal stakeholders to develop and implement impactful PR and media strategies that enhance the Chamber's brand and visibility statewide.

Job Duties:

? Develop and implement comprehensive PR and media relations plans aligned with the Florida Chamber of Commerce's goals and objectives.

? Establish and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets, reporters, and influencers.

? Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Chamber, effectively delivering key messages and representing the organization to the media.

? Proactively pitch stories, news releases, and articles to generate media coverage of the Chamber's initiatives, events, and policy positions.

? Coordinate and manage media relations during Chamber events, including press conferences, interviews, and media briefings.

? Monitor media coverage and industry trends, providing regular reports and analysis to senior leadership.

? Collaborate with fellow marketing team members to brainstorm and develop PR and media strategies, and to ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels, including social media, website, and publications.

? Oversee the creation and distribution of press releases, media kits, and other communication materials.

? Foster relationships with Chamber members, partners, and stakeholders to identify opportunities for joint PR and media initiatives.

? Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging PR trends, identifying innovative strategies to enhance the Chamber's media presence.

? Assist in the creation and management of the PR and media relations budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.

In addition to being trustworthy, integrity-filled, and results-oriented, the ideal candidate will possess:

? Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field. Certification is a plus.

? Proven experience (minimum of 5 years) in public relations, media relations, or corporate communications.

? Management experience leading a team of PR professionals.

? Experience working in a business advocacy organization or a chamber of commerce is preferred, but not required.

? Strong written, editing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages and effectively engage with diverse audiences. A keen eye for detail and grammar is a must.

? Strong research skills and the ability to gather and synthesize information from various sources.

? Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with media professionals, stakeholders, and Chamber members.

? An entrepreneurial spirit with demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing successful PR strategies, including media outreach, crisis communication, and reputation management.

? Extensive knowledge of traditional and digital media landscapes, including social media platforms and online publications.

? Strong organizational and project management abilities, with the capability to multitask and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

? Proficiency in using PR and media monitoring tools to track media coverage and analyze data.

? A strategic mindset with the ability to think creatively and identify opportunities to enhance the Chamber's brand and reputation.

? Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

? A portfolio of writing samples demonstrating a range of content types and styles.
