As a member of the Satellite Connectivity Group, you will work on the satellite network that enables connectivity to iPhone when off the grid without cellular or Wi-Fi coverage. Every day, Apple customers use Emergency SOS, Roadside assistance, and Messages via satellite to stay connected when they have no other means to communicate. You will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to shape this and other critical services, to the benefit and safety of millions of Apple device users. Our team is seeking a modeling and simulation software engineer to build software for analysis and operation of our satellite connectivity programs. This person will develop and extend analysis software to evaluate proposed designs, quantify performance, and characterize user experience for Apple customers around the world. They will also develop and support critical operational software for a new system. The successful candidate must have a track record of developing simulations and analysis tools from first principles. Ideal candidates will have experience in large scale computing and developing operational software. They must have a curious and analytical mind that can see both the big picture and drill down into the details.

Description Core responsibilities: - Develop and maintain simulation software that performs capacity analysis and trade studies. - Develop and maintain production-quality software libraries for system physics. - Understand our software end-to-end and how it impacts operations, proactively spot problems, and repair any issues to minimize system interruptions. - Perform analysis of system performance, communicate findings to the team and cross-functional partners, and work collaboratively to improve the system.

    Minimum Qualifications
  • BS in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related discipline.
  • Excellent geometry, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in C/C++.
  • 5+ years experience with software development for mathematical modeling, simulation, and optimization.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of physics and dynamical systems.
  • Proficiency in Python, Julia, or MATLAB.
  • Strong analysis skills.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, small team environment. Able to work through ambiguity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and solid teamwork and leadership skills.
  • MS/PhD in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related discipline.

Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $296,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
