- Responsible for performing and guiding technical activities resulting from approved self-initiated or assigned quality programs leading to innovative applications and extensions of existing or new quality programs having major importance to the business unit level.
 - Establishes and cultivates an extensive network of resources (laboratory, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments.
 - Actively participates in project planning. Establishes project objectives and priorities. Maintains an awareness of quality improvement and product opportunities and is productive in suggesting and testing ideas. Develops and implements quality systems and processes of major complexity.
 - Demonstrated ability to lead teams and projects is required. Functions as an effective team leader and promote harmonious and efficient working relationships.
 - Documents results, observations and conclusions in technical notebooks (or approved electronic files) and prepare reports to communicate results to appropriate personnel. May occasionally train, counsel, and guide technicians, technologists, and engineers.
 - Lead Process and Quality Engineering Efforts, working with the engineering team members to identify and complete process and quality improvement projects, using Lean, DMAIC, and CAPA Methodologies.
 - Lead RCCA activities initiated as a result of issues within Manufacturing Quality and Customer Complaints.
 - Actively participate in Internal and External Audits
 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
 - Four (4) years of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment
 - Three (3) years of demonstrated experience in the use of basic statistical tools such as exploratory data analysis, basic statistics, Gage R&R, Analysis of Variance, Statistical Process Control and Capability.
 
- Prior Experience as a quality engineer in machining, assembly operation, life safety device manufacturing or electronic device manufacturing
 - Good working knowledge of basic quality management systems such as Quality Manuals, ISO-9000, metrology, calibration, audits, PFMEA, Control Plans etc.
 - Certifications in quality engineering, quality auditing or quality management e.g., American Society for Quality-ASQ certification(s): Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP)
 - Experience facilitating external audits for regulatory bodies.
 - Microsoft Office proficient, Minitab or another statistical tools a plus
 - Experience with SAP.
