The RN Quality collaborates with other health care professionals to plan, monitor and evaluate patient care outcomes. Performs quality assurance processes and provides education to ensure accurate and specific medical record documentation and coding which accurately reflect DRG, diagnoses, clinical treatment, and severity of illness of our patients. Responsibilities

    The RN Quality responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Demonstrates a broad clinical knowledge of complex disease processes and clinical criteria to assist in identification of missed documentation and coding opportunities.
  • Utilizes current official coding guidelines, conventions and coding clinics to accurately support resolutions of DRG discrepancies.
  • Identifies complications/co-morbidities, secondary diagnosis, impact of procedures on MS-DRG assignment, as well as severity of illness, risk of mortality, case mix, inpatient quality reporting, and denial avoidance; with ability to impart this knowledge to caregivers
  • Reviews payer coding denials and facilitates the appeal process, when applicable, working closely with the denials management team, physicians, coders and other caregivers.
  • Performs quality assurance and training audits to support clinical documentation and coding staff.
  • Provides on-going training and education to physicians clinical documentation and coding caregivers, as well as other professional caregivers in the organization.
  • Contributes to a positive working environment and perform other duties as assigned or directed to enhance the overall efforts of the organization. Reports to the assigned Manager.     Qualifications
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Oklahoma or current multistate license from a Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) member state
  • 2 years Registered Nurse experience
  • CDI, coding, or quality related experience
  • CCDS, CDIP, HCS-D, or COS-C certification preferred
