Role Description
The Environmental Land Planner position will provide environmental planning expertise to lead or assist in obtaining local, state and/or federal permits for projects related to the energy, telecommunications, water, or mining industries.
Complete tasks associated with NEPA, CEQA or other local, state and federal permitting
Research requirements for a variety of local, state and federal permits
Collaborate with staff, agencies, clients and other project collaborators to facilitate permit submittals and schedules
Synthesize and communicate permit stipulations and requirements
Track and organize permit processes and status
Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings
Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s and Eocene Environmental Group’s culture of safety and employee ownership
Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures
Qualifications
B.S. degree (M.S. preferred) in environmental planning and/or a closely related discipline
Strong knowledge of NEPA and/or CEQA
2-3 years experience working with or for federal, state, or local agencies
Ability to perform work duties independently and efficiently with short deadlines
Highly organized, motivated, thorough, accurate, dependable, and trustworthy
Ability to interact and coordinate with state, federal, local, and tribal agencies
Note-taking ability
Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
Requirements
5 years experience working with or for federal, state, or local agencies preferred
Strong writing and editing skills
Familiarity with typical utility operations and maintenance activities
Familiarity with Salesforce and ESRI GIS applications (including desktop, ArcGIS, Collector, Survey123, etc.)
Excellent navigation skills and good driving record
Experience driving a four-wheel drive vehicle off-road or in rough terrain
