CL Strategic LLC (CLS) is a small, fast-growing consulting firm providing strategic planning, grant fundraising, and capacity building support for nonprofit organizations in Washington State. We work with organizations across multiple fields, including substance use & mental health treatment, housing & homelessness, racial & economic justice, voting rights, equitable public education, and arts & culture. Chris believes firmly in mentoring and supporting his employees to help them succeed in their career goals while working at CL Strategic and beyond. More about CLS at: clstrategic.net

CLS is looking for a part-time (~10 hours per week) Manager of Capacity Building & Data (MCBD) to work on deliverables and projects our clients need. This person will conduct audits of client operational systems, research tools, systems, & resources for clients, draft recommendation reports, collect & analyze data, and tackle a variety of client-facing and behind-the-scenes tasks that will allow CLS to better serve our client organizations as they serve their communities. There will also be some internal administrative tasks assigned as needed to support CLS’ operations.

The role is ideal for someone who wants to support community-based organizations, who is interested in learning about growing a small business, who is a systems-thinker, detail-oriented, highly reliable and organized, values work-life balance and flexibility, and cares about finding purpose in their work.

Responsibilities: • Act as the lead project manager for 3-4 clients with contracts that require capacity-building, operations, and data services • Provide support on other CLS client projects (ex. Grant writing, strategic planning) as needed • Online research to collect information on best practices, tools, resources, and opportunities for clients • Collecting & analyzing data from clients & stakeholders • Other administrative tasks as assigned

Desired Qualifications: • Work experience in the nonprofit sector, particularly in operations, finance, HR, or program management • Familiarity with software tools commonly used by nonprofits for fundraising, operations, finance, and project management • A background in data collection & analysis • Strong writing skills, including excellent attention to detail • Experience working independently in a remote environment • Adept at online + virtual workplace tools and systems, such as Asana (project management), Slack (internal communications), Google Suite (Gmail/Drive/Calendar), Zoom (video conferencing) • An ability to work efficiently without sacrificing accuracy, thoroughness, or quality on detailed tasks

Work Schedule:

This position will be almost entirely remote with very occasional (optional) opportunities for in-person meetings and work events. Expected workload is 10 hours per week with the possibility of expansion in the future. Graduate students with an interest in consulting, nonprofit management, or business development are welcomed to apply. The position can be structured as a “paid internship” to fulfill graduate academic requirements. If more than 40 hours of client-facing work are called for in a given month, MCBD will have the option to "opt in" to additional hours for that month OR hold a "cap" of 40 hours if other constraints limit their time.
