As a Student Development Advisor, you will play a crucial role in providing college-wide student advisement and supporting activities within an assigned guided pathway. Your primary responsibility will be to guide students regarding the various programs and services offered by the college, while also participating in outreach and selection activities to assist students in their academic journey. You will serve as a vital liaison for students on academic probation and suspension programs, advising them on their course of study and necessary prerequisites, as well as assessing transcripts for prospective and current students to ensure appropriate course placement. A typical day as a Student Development Advisor involves managing a caseload of students, providing them with program selection, planning, and enrollment assistance. You will follow up with each student to identify and resolve any barriers to their success, completing individualized Guided Pathways for each student and closely monitoring their progression toward degree or certificate completion. Utilizing advising-specific technology and frameworks, you will assist students in navigating various communication and delivery formats, advising them on course offerings, testing requirements, and major selection. Additionally, you will counsel students on their adaptability to the college environment, analyze test results, and review transcripts for course placement. You will also handle requests from parents and students regarding programs, transfers, and degrees, and may conduct workshops to inform parents about college or program requirements. Your role will include providing support to the new student orientation program, which may involve planning, development, and presentation. You will be responsible for preparing required reports for various internal and external requests and performing other job-related duties as assigned. This position requires flexibility, as you must be available to work evenings, weekends, and possibly during holidays. Responsibilities • Guide assigned caseload of students with program selection, program planning, and enrollment information and assistance. , • Follow up with each student in the assigned caseload to identify and resolve any barriers to success. , • Complete an individualized Guided Pathway for each student in the assigned caseload, closely monitoring and actively supporting each student's progression toward degree or certificate completion. , • Utilize advising specific technology, frameworks, and platforms to manage caseload. , • Assist students with utilizing a variety of communication and delivery formats. , • Advise students as to course of study, particular course offerings, necessary testing, and prerequisites, and in selecting a major or program. , • Assist in understanding educational, personal and occupational strengths and limitations. , • Participate in and manage all phases of an assigned project. , • Plan and oversee the preparations and dissemination of project communications. , • Produce related project reports, as needed. , • Counsel students regarding their adaptability to a college environment. , • Analyze test results and identify areas requiring further attention. , • Review transcripts of students for the purpose of course placement. , • Handle requests from parents and students regarding programs, transfers, and degrees. , • Conduct workshops with parents regarding College or program information requirements. , • Provide support to the new student orientation program, including assisting with planning, development, and presentation. , • Prepare required reports for various internal and external requests. , • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
