About the position The Senior Japanese Linguist-Language Instruction/Testing role at SOS International LLC involves providing language instruction to adult students in a professional setting. The position requires lesson planning, delivery, and assessment of learning outcomes, with a focus on enhancing students' proficiency in Japanese across various levels. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for engaging effectively with students and collaborating with organizational stakeholders. Responsibilities • Deliver instruction to students ranging from starting levels 0 to 3 to raise their proficiency level on the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR). , • Execute the full cycle of lesson development/planning, instruction, and student assessment. , • Develop lesson plans appropriate for beginners, intermediate, and advanced classes. , • Facilitate classes focused on real-world scenarios to develop students' skills in speaking, listening, and reading for both social and professional situations. , • Provide students with constructive feedback and consult with customers on organizational needs to further student success. , • Assess students' learning and proficiency levels based on the ILR scale. Requirements • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Language, or a related field. , • U.S. citizenship required for security clearance. , • Minimum of five years of experience in foreign language instruction, assessing student proficiency, developing instructional curricula, and integrating current technology and cultural understanding. , • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, assessed through a standardized exam. , • Native or near-native competency in Japanese, assessed through standardized language exams. , • Experience in using SharePoint and Microsoft Office. Nice-to-haves • Active, in-scope TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph. , • Master's degree in Education, Language, or a related field. , • Overseas experience related to or utilizing Japanese language. , • Versed in multiple teaching methods to support students' varied learning abilities and styles. , • Subject matter expertise in International Relations, Counter-terrorism, Economics, Legal/Law, Military, Narcotics, Science & Technology, Literature, and Cross-cultural studies.
