Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, student-centered Remote School Social Worker to join our virtual education team and provide mental health and social-emotional support services to students in New Mexico. The ideal candidate will be experienced in working with diverse student populations in educational settings. This position is fully remote and focuses on supporting student success by addressing barriers to learning, providing crisis intervention, and connecting families with resources.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide virtual individual and group counseling to students with social-emotional, behavioral, or mental health needs.
• Conduct virtual assessments to identify student needs and develop intervention plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), 504 Plans, and behavior intervention plans (BIPs), as needed.
• Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community agencies to coordinate services and resources.
• Provide crisis response and safety planning in collaboration with school staff and administrators.
• Support student attendance and engagement by addressing social and environmental barriers to learning.
• Deliver virtual social-emotional learning (SEL) lessons and preventive programming.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records in compliance with state and federal guidelines, including FERPA and HIPAA.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, special educators, and administrators to create a supportive and inclusive virtual school climate.
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program (required).
• Valid New Mexico LMSW or LCSW license (required).
• School Social Work Endorsement through the New Mexico Public Education Department (required).
• Experience providing school-based social work or mental health services, preferably in a remote or hybrid learning environment.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care, MTSS, SEL, and restorative practices.
• Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with virtual platforms such as Zoom, Google Workspace, or Microsoft Teams.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary remote team.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
• Experience supporting students with disabilities and participating in special education processes.
• Familiarity with New Mexico’s education system, community resources, and student support initiatives.
