We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Part-time Senior Assistant to join our team at Brooklyn Public Library Services, where you will play a vital role in enriching the lives of older adults in our community. Job Responsibilities:
As a Part-time Senior Assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Planning and presenting programs and activities that encourage participation and library usage among older adults
- Assisting teaching artists with Creative Aging programs, managing program supplies, and ensuring seamless execution
- Gathering attendance data, surveys, and relevant information to inform program evaluation and improvement
- Communicating effectively with the Services for Older Adults team, managing administrative duties, and maintaining accurate records
- Representing Brooklyn Public Library Services for Older Adults at community meetings and outreach activities, promoting our services and building partnerships
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds
- Strong team player mentality, with a willingness to adapt to the needs of patrons with and without disabilities
- A genuine desire to work with older adults and people with disabilities, promoting inclusivity and social connection
- Proficiency in computer skills, including email, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, and other virtual platforms
Preferred Qualifications:
While not required, the following skills and qualifications are highly valued:
- Bilingual language skills, including Sign Language, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cantonese, Mandarin, Bengali, Urdu, Polish, and Russian
