Job Summary:

We're looking for an experienced MBSAQIP Abstractor to perform primary data abstraction duties for our MBSAQIP registry. As a seasoned professional in the field, you'll be responsible for ensuring high levels of abstraction accuracy, collecting and abstracting data from patient medical records, and maintaining the integrity of our data. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform primary data abstraction duties for MBSAQIP registry, ensuring high levels of abstraction accuracy for assigned accounts.
  • Collect and abstract data from patient medical records, including information on diagnoses, treatments, procedures, and outcomes.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of abstracted data by cross-referencing information from multiple sources.
  • Adhere to specific clinical data abstraction guidelines and standards, such as those set by the American College of Surgeons.
  • Enter abstracted data into a database or registry, using specialized software and maintaining data integrity.
  • Participate in quality assurance processes, including regular audits of data or abstraction processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in patient care and data management to ensure ongoing competency.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience abstracting MBSAQIP measures.
  • Current Surgical Clinical Reviewer (SCR) certification.
  • Familiarity with medical records, billing/documentation practices, Microsoft Office, and standard healthcare quality concepts.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
  • High standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • BSN, LPN, or RN preferred.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.
