About the position Responsibilities • Support SpectrumX's positioning and engagement efforts with industry, government, and political stakeholders. • Complete a communications audit of SpectrumX's current communications audiences and needs. • Develop a comprehensive strategic positioning and communications plan for SpectrumX. • Create consistent core messaging for outreach platforms, including talking points and marketing messages. • Collaborate with the ND Media Relations team and member institutions to target relevant media. • Pitch story ideas and draft content for media outreach. • Assist with media relations training for SpectrumX leadership. • Monitor media coverage and maintain a library of relevant articles. • Leverage stakeholder relationships and create targeted outreach materials for federal agencies and policymakers. • Coordinate briefing meetings between the SpectrumX team and key stakeholders. • Support outreach events, including planning and logistical support. • Manage the creation of highlight videos and prepare annual reports for SpectrumX leadership. • Write news stories highlighting research outcomes and maintain related websites. • Create graphics and multimedia content for various platforms. • Update SpectrumX's social media channels and advise student-run channels. • Provide monthly reporting on communications activities and attend relevant team meetings. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in English, public relations, communications, or a related field with an interest in STEM. • 3 to 4 years of relevant work experience in communications or public relations. • Proficiency in Macintosh platforms and experience with Adobe products. • Experience with Google products, including email and analytics. • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including research and editing. • Experience using content management systems and social media for business purposes. • Experience with email marketing software. Nice-to-haves • Master's degree preferred. • Experience in wireless, spectrum, or related technology policy. • Experience in higher education or academic settings. • Experience with photography and videography, including FinalCut and Adobe Creative Suite. • Strong project management experience. • Knowledge of AP Style.
