Job Summary Chloeta is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Fishery Biologist to support environmental projects. The Fishery Biologist will provide expertise in fisheries science, habitat restoration, ecological monitoring, and resource management to support client and agency objectives. Supervisor Duties: No Job Classification: 1099 Independent Subcontractor Duty Station: Remote/Virtual Travel: Up to 10% Duties/Responsibilities • Conducts field surveys, sampling, and monitoring of fish populations, aquatic habitats, and water quality. • Assists in habitat assessments and provides recommendations for conservation, restoration, and management. • Collects, analyzes, and interprets biological and environmental data. • Assists with technical reports, biological assessments, and environmental documentation. • Provides expertise in compliance with the Endangered Species Act (ESA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and other applicable environmental regulations. • Collaborates with stakeholders, agencies, and clients to develop fisheries management plans. • Assists with permitting, impact assessments, and mitigation strategies. • Provides expertise in habitat restoration, aquatic ecology, and fisheries conservation projects. Required Skills/Abilities • Strong knowledge of fisheries biology, aquatic ecology, and habitat management. • Proficiency in biological sampling techniques (electrofishing, netting, tagging, telemetry, etc.). • Experience with water quality monitoring and habitat assessment methodologies. • Ability to analyze and interpret biological and statistical data. • Familiarity with GIS and data management software. • Strong technical writing and reporting skills. • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of field conditions, sometimes in remote locations. Education and Experience • Required: Bachelor's degree in Fisheries Biology, Aquatic Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field. • Required: Two (2) years of professional experience in fisheries biology, aquatic habitat assessment, or related work • Preferred: Master's degree in relevant field • Preferred: Competence in operating boats and field sampling equipment (with required certifications where applicable). Physical Requirements • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc. • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, and humidity • Ability to stand, bend, crouch, and reach for prolonged periods while conducting surveys • This position is primarily field-based, requiring the employee to perform the majority of duties on-site in outdoor and operational environments rather than in an office setting About Chloeta Chloeta is a Native American owned enterprise providing a diverse range of engineering, scientific, and technical solutions to support military, energy, homeland security, emergency preparedness, and critical infrastructure requirements.
