Deputy Attorney General - Legislative & Policy
The Deputy Attorney General serves as a legal advisor and litigator, providing legal guidance to state agencies and represent the state in court or high-level negotiations. The role combines strategic legal leadership with public service, ensuring that state laws are enforced fairly and effectively.
• Draft comment letters in response to proposed administrative rules, policy letters, and other policy related materials as assigned.
• Perform legal research on policy-related issues and draft legal memoranda summarizing research.
• Support the legislative team in preparation for the legislative session, including bill drafting.
• Assist during the legislative session by drafting amendments, tracking bills, meeting with various stakeholders on behalf of the Office, performing time-sensitive tasks.
• Assist during the post-session by drafting reports, watching Governor bill signings, implementing newly passed laws, and performing certain tasks related to Office priorities.
• Appear on select policy related litigation cases or appeals with other DAGs. Provides effective and efficient legal and policy services.
• Maintain professional and positive relationships with internal and external contacts on behalf of the Office.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
