Purpose and Scope of the Seasonal Customer Service Representative Role

As a Seasonal Part-Time Customer Service Representative at blithequark, you will play a critical role in receiving, investigating, and responding to member inquiries, resolving member problems and/or complaints in a timely and accurate manner. Job Specifics

  • Schedule: 20 hours per week, with two 8-hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST and 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM EST) and an additional 4-hour shift during peak business hours.
  • Duration: October 2024 through January 2025.
  • Time Off: No long-term planned time off during the assignment.

This role requires availability on weekends and adherence to the specified schedule and training period. As a Seasonal Customer Service Representative, you will be an integral part of the blithequark team, working in a 100% remote environment.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties

  • Answers and tracks telephone calls within established department standards.
  • Tracks all existing member calls within the database, ensuring documentation is concise and factual.
  • Responsible for understanding all lines of business benefits, medical management processes, demographic change processes, and processes for changing Primary Care Physicians (PCP).
  • Answers "entry-level" claims inquiries and takes "Over the Counter" (OTC) orders for products and diabetic supplies.
  • Understands and processes "entry-level" enrollment and disenrollment procedures.
  • Enters prospective members into our software database and maintains current source documents and reference documents.
  • Interacts professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Works effectively as a team contributor and independently, communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
  • Redirects calls to the appropriate department as required.

Customer Service Expectations

  • Drives the blithequark culture through values and customer service standards.
  • Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal contacts.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships through effective and timely communication.
  • Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve, and follow up on customer service issues in a timely manner.

Education, Experience, and Required Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • The ability to read and interpret documents and calculate figures and amounts.
  • Strong typing skills (40-60 WPM).
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to manage customer questions/issues while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • A self-driven attitude with a positive outlook, confidence, tact, patience, and diplomacy when dealing with customers.
  • The ability to follow directions, complete tasks accurately, and accept supervisory input and constructive criticism.
  • Proficient in MS Office, with basic computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including good grammar, voice, and diction.
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, with a minimum of six months to one year of related experience.
