As a Head of Legal, Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), Global Solutions, you will be providing legal advice and assistance on corporate law, insurance regulation, contractual negotiation, as well as general commercial legal matters which arise as the businesses seek to expand both their geographic footprint and market share. You will be supported by subject matter experts covering compliance, employment law, data protection, international tax, competition law, and intellectual property law. Key to your success will be your ability to build relationships and partner with the business in a large multinational matrix organization to find legally compliant solutions that support growth while minimizing risk for the enterprise. The successful candidate will report to the Deputy General Counsel, UnitedHealthcare. This role is likely to be home-based with occasional international travel.Primary Responsibilities of the Head of Legal (Associate General Counsel)
- Member of European Senior Leadership Team for the Global Solutions business helping drive the business forward.
 - Developing legal strategy and setting legal budgets for external legal spend for EMEA.
 - Managing regulatory relationships, including liaising with the Central Bank of Ireland, the Prudential Regulatory Authority, and the Financial Conduct Authority.
 - Helping the businesses manage legal risk by explaining and documenting risks to ensure awareness and facilitate informed decision making by management.
 - Developing and providing legal training for the businesses.
 - Analysing and advising on domestic and international privacy laws impacting the business.
 - Drafting and negotiating contracts with clients, brokers, and vendors.
 - Reviewing marketing and promotional material including blogs, articles, and advertisements.
 - Managing compliance with the economic and trade sanctions administered by the U.S. Department of Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), export control laws.
 - Working closely with the corporate governance team to ensure preparation of materials and smooth running of quarterly Risk Committee, Audit Committee, and Board meetings.
 - Presenting on legal issues as a thought leader at internal and external meetings and conferences.
 - Supporting new market entry initiatives, including strategic alliances, potential acquisitions, and organically establishing a local legal presence for Europe in the Middle East.
 - Collaborating closely with the European Head of Compliance and UK Compliance Manager to ensure close alignment on guidance for the business.
 
Required Qualifications of the Head of Legal (Associate General Counsel)
- Legally qualified as a solicitor or barrister with proven post-qualification experience.
 - Deep understanding of insurance business and the European regulatory landscape.
 - International experience and cross-border legal work is preferred.
 - Managing a varied workload including strategic decision-making as well as day-to-day legal issues that require support.
