Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Part-Time Host/Hostess to join our team at Avenue Grill. As a key member of our hospitality team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, ensuring seamless dining experiences, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for our guests. This is a remote position that offers an immediate start for the right candidate, with a competitive salary package and opportunities for growth and development.

Key Responsibilities

As a Part-Time Host/Hostess, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Greeting guests and determining the number in their party
  • Seating guests by finding a clean, available table and providing a clean/current menu
  • Guiding guests through the dining rooms and providing any needed assistance
  • Moving and arranging tables, chairs, and settings to accommodate groups with special needs
  • Ensuring place settings are appropriate and each guest has a napkin, clean silverware, and any other item that is part of the standard place setting
  • Checking menus to ensure they are current, clean, plentiful, and wrinkle-free
  • Maintaining cleanliness of work areas throughout the day, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures
  • Monitoring dining rooms for seating availability, service, safety, and well-being of guests
  • Following all company and safety and security policies and procedures
  • Reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager
  • Completing safety training and certifications
  • Ensuring uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional
  • Maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information and protecting company assets
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language and answer telephones using appropriate etiquette
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • No related work experience is required, but a willingness to learn and grow is essential
  • No supervisory experience is required, but a strong team player attitude is necessary
  • No license or certification is required, but a commitment to safety and security policies and procedures is essential

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications would be beneficial:
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role, such as hospitality or retail
  • Knowledge of food and beverage service, including menu knowledge and wine service
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, such as a restaurant or hotel
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Basic math skills and accuracy with handling cash and credit transactions
