Mortgage Loan Closing Specialist I / Remote / MS

About the position

The Mortgage Loan Closing Specialist is responsible for preparing closing documents for residential mortgage loans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and quality customer service standards. This role involves communication with production associates and title companies to resolve closing issues and obtain necessary documentation. The specialist reviews title-related documents and closing disclosures for accuracy and compliance with RESPA and TRID requirements before approving funding.

Responsibilities
• Issue closing instructions to Title Companies/Closing Agents and provide all necessary documents.

• Review title commitment, tax information, lock documentation, insurance information, real estate contracts, underwriting approvals, and other documentation related to the closing transaction.

• Prepare and review closing disclosures for compliance with contracts and underwriting, ensuring all disbursements meet loan criteria and are received within the required timeframe by the customer.

• Work with the closing manager/supervisor to produce required tickets for funding and order the wire for remittance of closing funds.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
• High School Education
,
• Technical or vocational school education
,
• 1-2 years of Loan Closing/Mtg Processing Experience or 6 months as Trustmark Closing Coordinator plus 2 years prior mortgage experience.
,
• Knowledge of guidelines and legal requirements associated with different types of loans closed and insured by FHA, VA, USDA, GNMA, FNMA, and FHLMC.
,
• Thorough knowledge of residential mortgage closing documents.
,
• Some knowledge of CFPB regulations and TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure (TRID) guidelines.
,
• Some knowledge of title insurance guidelines.
,
• Strong communication and listening skills.
,
• Data entry skills and proficiency with a 10 key calculator.
,
• Analytical skills and attention to detail.
