Security Guard

Core Responsibilities
? Supports division and site safety, quality, productivity, environmental and cost reduction goals.
? Patrols premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensures security of doors, windows, and gates.
? Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises. Enforces identification badge procedures.
? Conducts incident investigations. Investigates alarms or disturbances and writes reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situations.
? Monitors vehicle traffic.
? Protects property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, fire and accidents.
? Answers telephone calls to take messages, answer questions and provides information during non-business hours or when switchboard is closed.
? Provides any needed assistance to customers, employees and visitors with the department's procedures.

Qualifications

? Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field of study and 2+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
? Military or law enforcement background, preferred.
? Knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a business environment and enforcement procedures.
? Ability to understand and follow standard operating procedures.
? Ability to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures.
? Incident investigation and documentation skills.
? Ability to multi-task, prioritize daily work assignments, meet deadlines and manage time wisely with minimal supervision.
? Strong mathematical, organizational skills and attention to detail.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
? May be required to work long hours and weekends.
? Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
? Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
