Summary
? This position provides direct pharmaceutical care in collaboration with providers to Oncology patients in the ambulatory setting. Some of the responsibilities include rounding with providers, assisting with the selection of treatment plans, optimizing treatment, provider/staff education, maintenance of treatment plans with respect to current guidelines, and clinical research. The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist - Oncology also participates in various committees and initiatives to help drive improvement in Oncology care.
? This position works under the general direction of the Director - Pharmacy and is employed by Mosaic Health Systems.
Duties
? Round with oncology physicians and APRN's and assist in the selection of chemotherapy treatment plans
? Optimize established treatment plans based on patient specific factors.
? Work with clinical research team on various oncology trials.
? Work with Epic team to build, review, and maintain treatment plans in the EHR based on current guidelines.
? Develop and present continuing education programs to oncology staff and providers
? Monitors Oncologist's medication utilization practices and provides feedback to practitioners to improve care.
? Optimize and monitor the usage of biosimilars in clinical practice.
? Understands distributive functions of the infusion pharmacy (including USP 797 and 800) and staffs if needed.
? Interface with various drug manufacturer representatives in coordination with management.
? Collaborate with Director of Oncology for process improvement, medication utilization, protocols, etc.
? Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
? PharmD or B.S. in Pharmacy with relevant clinical experience is required. PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency or equivalent experience (3 years of clinical pharmacy) OR PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency or equivalent experience (3 years of clinical pharmacy in oncology) preferred.
? License in good standing with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy is required. Board-Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) preferred.
? Experience with providing direct pharmaceutical care to patients in a clinical setting is required. Experience with sterile compounding and handling hazardous medications preferred.
