About the position

Northgate Gonzalez Markets, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Produce Clerk to join our team at Store #14 in Buena Park, CA. Our company has a rich history, having opened our first store in Anaheim, CA, on January 2nd, 1980, and we have since expanded to over 40 stores across four counties: Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, and the Inland Empire. We pride ourselves on offering a full-service supermarket experience, featuring a large meat department, bakery, tortilleria, and prepared foods, alongside a wide selection of domestic and imported Latin American grocery goods. In this part-time role, you will be responsible for maintaining the quality and presentation of our produce department. Your duties will include adhering to health regulations, ensuring proper product rotation, and providing excellent customer service. You will also assist in training new associates and contribute to a clean and attractive department image. Responsibilities
? Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance and adhere to company grooming standards.

? Follow procedures for receiving, code dating, trimming, storing, price marking, and restocking produce.
,
? Differentiate between various types of produce merchandise, including taste and preparation methods.
,
? Assist in checking and verifying produce department receiving when required.
,
? Handle damaged and spoiled products and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods.
,
? Ensure display shelves and refrigerated cases are properly stocked and faced according to product movement.
,
? Contribute to a clean, attractive, and friendly department image by maintaining good housekeeping and sanitation standards.

? Use and maintain equipment in good working order, reporting malfunctions to the produce manager or store manager.
,
? Comply with all state and county government weights and measures laws.
,
? Greet customers and maintain good customer relations by providing prompt and courteous service.

Requirements
? High school education preferred or equivalent education.
,
? Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish.
,
? Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret, and understand job-related documents.
,
? Familiarity with all products carried in the produce department, including differences in price, taste, and preparation.

Nice-to-haves
? Experience in a retail or grocery environment.
