Responsibilities
This is a 12-month specialized faculty (non-tenure track) appointment with a teaching load of six classes per year (3-2-1 or 3-3-0, Fall-Spring-Summer). Potential courses for this position may include Retail Product Development, Computer Applications, Quality Assurance, and Introduction to Textiles. Additionally, we are seeking someone with expertise in costume history and collection management. A course release can be negotiated for this curatorial role.
Qualifications
Earned a Master?s or Doctoral degree in Textiles and Apparel, or a related field from an accredited institution, or possesses equivalent qualifications based on professional experience, and be otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties, with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching. ABD candidates are welcome to apply, provided they graduate within one year of being hired at FSU.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Textiles and Apparel, or a related field. Candidates should have expertise in costume history and experience in collection management. Applicants must demonstrate their ability to teach a variety of courses, including apparel product development, computer applications (Adobe Creative Suite), retail technologies, textile science, quality assurance, and apparel construction.
Additional professional qualifications, previous university-level teaching experience, and recent relevant work experience are highly preferred. A demonstrated history of scholarly research and publications is also beneficial.
Additional Job Functions
? Conduct historic costume inventory, update collection records, and collaborate with faculty and students on exhibits.
? Communicate with staff about processes and any issues that arise.
? Work with faculty from various colleges across the University to develop collaborative exhibits and research opportunities.

Textile Collection
The Textile and Apparel Historic Costume Collection in the Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship began in 1952 with a donation from the Choate family of Tallahassee, Florida. Over the years, donations have come from faculty, students, alumni, and other interested parties. Today, the collection contains nearly 5,000 objects, including clothing and accessories from primarily the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as some textiles, dolls, accessories, implements, and tools associated with creating clothing and textiles. The purpose of the Collection is to house significant clothing and textiles of historical and illustrative value that will facilitate the teaching, research, and public relations activities in the College, University, and Community.
