Senior Manager, Programs and Research - Driving Impact in African Agriculture
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Manager, Programs and Research to join our team at AWARD. As a key member of our senior management team, you will play a pivotal role in steering and supporting the overall program management, providing technical guidance for multi-faceted projects and programs focused on the nexus between gender perspectives, agricultural research for development, environment and climate change, agribusiness systems, agricultural policy, and practice in Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to setting specific objectives, targets, and milestones, monitoring progress, and recommending innovative ideas/actions for design, planning, and implementation.
- Ensure the overall execution of AWARD programmatic work and progress monitoring, including effective activity planning, overseeing day-to-day program operations, and producing high-quality deliverables.
- Lead the development of a comprehensive research base at AWARD, generating and disseminating knowledge in various forms to various audiences.
- Coordinate with the Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (ME&L) team to develop and implement the AWARD ME&L strategy, design progress tracking systems, and provide programmatic progress updates.
- Represent AWARD in specific events, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to resource mobilization efforts.
- Supervise a dynamic team of colleagues, providing mentorship, coaching, and support for team motivation, personal and professional growth.
Requirements:
- Advanced university degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in agricultural sciences, socio-economics, international development, business management, or related fields.
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in program and research/project management, with field experience working in Africa.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French.
- Strong expertise in managing and coordinating multiple projects and programs with a wide variety of partners and in different contexts.
- Proven leadership skills, strong ability to manage diverse teams, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
