The Office Assistant II position involves performing a variety of routine to moderately difficult customer service, accounting, receptionist, records management, and database support functions under general supervision. This role is distinguished from the Office Assistant I by the greater range of office support functions performed with lesser direction, requiring more specialized knowledge of department procedures and standards. The position is part-time and temporary, with flexible work hours averaging eighteen hours per week.
Responsibilities
? Types, formats, edits, revises, proofreads, and prints various reports and documents.

? Answers, screens, and refers visitors and telephone calls; assists customers at a public counter and by telephone.

? Maintains departmental personnel files and prepares personnel documents.

? Copies, compiles, and distributes contracts, reports, and documents.

? Makes and confirms travel arrangements; types itineraries and compiles expense reports.

? May assemble agenda packets and ensure all information is accurate.

? May take minutes and transcribe dictation; assists in preparing and distributing agenda packets.

? May assist with preparation, tracking, and updating of budgetary data.

? May provide direction to office support staff regarding work procedures.

? Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
? Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of increasingly responsible office support or secretarial experience.

? Experience in a municipal government setting is highly desirable.

? Knowledge of office administration practices and procedures, business communication, and correct English usage.

? Ability to operate a computer using word processing software and type accurately at a necessary speed.

? Ability to organize, set priorities, and exercise sound independent judgment.
